Wounded Shooter
This is an 8 hour course designed for the law enforcement officer, security guard, CCW holder or handgun owner wanting to improve their odds at surviving a gunfight by learning techniques to be used if wounded or knocked down during a fight.
Competitive shooters can benefit from this training to use during stages requiring one handed operation of their gun.
Prerequisites: Handgun I or equivalent
Subjects Covered
- Presentation of the handgun from a holster (one handed, support side presentations)
- Reloading – slide lock and tactical one handed (both dominate and support side only)
- One handed shooting – firing and support sides
- Positional shooting – unusual positions – supine, lateral prone, modified Creedmoor, fight to standing exercises and many others
- Unconventional use of cover
- One handed malfunction clearing
- Introduction to shooting on the move - getting off the “X”
What you need to bring
- Strong side belt holster – Paddle holsters okay
- Serviceable handgun .380 or larger
- At least 3 magazines or speed-loaders with pouch(s)
- Long pants, tee or polo shirts, close toe shoes or boots. No tank tops, shorts or sandals
- Sunscreen and a hat or cap that works with your hearing protection
- Weather appropriate clothing – rain gear if inclement
- Eye and ear protection
- 200 rounds of ammunition – can be remanufactured (Miwall, HSM ect.) – no hand-loads please.
